whats it mean

when your pc starts beeping like beep beep beep beep etc etc
rebooted and it gone now but it was beeping for about an hour until i rebooted
pc was on for couple of hours then just started beeping for some reason was still working ok but beeping
any idea

Probably your bios not recognising something. maybe it failed to pick up your ram, cpu or graphics card (if there wasn't a picture of course).
Maybe some hardware is failing, or it was a freak boot that failed to post properly.
Dunno if you've a laptop or desktop, but if it keeps happening, check to make sure your processor, ram and graphics card hasn't become loose.

thank you sam,its a packard bell desktop running xp,first time its happenedbut seems ok at the moment touch wood
there was a picture when it was beeping and it was working as normal
allbeit while beeping

There is a possibility that the battery on your motherboard is running low but unless the computer is 4 or more years old that is unlikely.
Google "computer beep codes" and you'll find plenty of information.

If this happens when you first switch on and no display often memory or graphics card either faulty or not properly seated in the socket.
The only time I have seen this when a system was running it was overheating.
It was not the main processor fan but a passive heatsink come away from another device on the motherboard.
So maybe worth taking the lid off, checking processor and case fans are running full speed, processor heatsink is not full of dust and nothing else loose.
