Bobby Charlton v Peter Kenyon

Just watched the TV coverage of the medal ceremony. HOW THE FUCK does Kenyon qualify for a medal? He even led the team up the stairs and as much as I loathe Platini, was glad to see the legendary French player look bemused at this fat bald cunt (well, that could be me!) reaching for a medal!
Now, when Sir Bobby Charlton went up for a special medal, he looked embarrased and uncomfortable and declined Platini putting the medal around his neck and instead opted to quietly and without fuss, slip it in his pocket so the winning Man Utd team could soak up the atmosphere and bask in their glory as it was THEIR day and not all about Sir Bobby.
Thats the difference between then and now. Past players like Sir Bobby are feted everywhere as they played football in an age where there was no greed, WAGS, hangers-on and corrupt clubs.
Now, I'm Chelsea till I die, but given the option of having someone like Sir Bobby Charlton, a Manchester United and England all-time legend or Peter Kenyon at Stamford Bridge....I'd opt for someone like Sir Bobby any day of the week!
Sir Bobby will no doubt put this medal with the hoardes of others he has, and according to his excellent autobiography, he hasn't got any on display at home, whereas I can see Kenyon wearing his around the club like he'd actually PLAYED in the game!

I'm pretty sure it was Platini's idea for the guy who organises the day-to-day running of the club at the very top would lead the team to collect medals. This meant Kenyon and Gill, but Gill didn't think it was right and it being the 50th anniversary, they wanted Sir Bobby to lead the team instead.

Can't blame Kenyon, but he didn't have to be grinning like a Cheshire fucking cat after his team had just lost. If you watch the clip again, you'll hear the Man Utd fans chanting 'Kenyon is a wanker' as he's collecting his medal.

Sir Bobby quietly put the medal in his pocket as he knew the night belonged to the players, coaches and Manager. That's pure class...

I agree with Ace.Why should Kenyon lead the team to pick up their runners up medals?.There was alot of ex-Chelsea players that were invited to Moscow who would of qualified to lead the team.Players such as Ron Harris,Charlie Cooke,Kerry Dixon etc.Even Steve Clarke would of been a better candidate than Kenyon.

Sir Bobby Charlton's look of embarrassment told it all.

Alan Husdon is right on his recent comment that the Chelsea legends are forgotten by the new hirearchy.
