US film director and producer Sydney Pollack has died of cancer, aged 73.
As far as I know he did NOT play the drums.

Was responsible for the ultimate chick-flick, Out Of Africa. And now I'll never get to sue him to get those hours of my life back.
Tootsie was fine, though. And They Kill Horses Don't They. And The Swimmer was weird.

Good actor too.
I particularly enjoyed his brief appearances in The Sopranos, in which he played a doctor who was in jail for killing his wife.
We also saw him recently in Michael Clayton, of course.

He was becoming like Ernest Borgnine for the amount of cameos you saw him in on tv and film except he was in a lot more (to my mind) better movies.
Ernest would appear at your doorstep delivering milk with that inimitable rictus grin on his face. Bless him. He passes away years ago too the memory of him lives on.
As I'm sure Sydney will too....Making cameo appearances in heaven.

Thanks for that Stripey. I'm sure I heard about him passing a few years ago. I guess I heard wrong then.
