The muddy shit-hole that is 'Glasto'

It seems that even the 'kids' are revolting this year by avoiding the bog-fest and going to other festivals. I really like the fact the Micheal Eavis is denying the obvious, that is, putting on a two-bit rap act as the headliner is a major mistake.

I, unlike a lot of forumites quite like 'Rap' as an art-form, I happen to quite like listening to Snoop Dogg, Ice-T, De La Soul get my vote as well, but I dont think that Jay-Zee floats anyone's boat, Doh!

There are tickets still available (surprise, surprise) if you're interested..I may have a little flutter at the bookies as to whether it'll piss-down again.

ChrisD, if you're reading this, I believe that all the Bangbabes/sexbabes/sportsbabes/babes with bollocks will all be there. Honest.

Stripey i am a huge rap fan and have been for a long long time.

Not sure what you mean about a 2 bit rap act refferring to Jay Z for one thing he is headlining only one day so that has nothing to do with the ticket sales. Have you EVER seen him live??

Well i have many times and his live show is totally different to listening to one of his cd,s.

Check out FADE TO BLACK there are lots of clips on youtube. I dont know any other rap act apart from kanye west (jay z protege) and the roots that have a live band play and not just a dj.

I think ticket sales is more to do with the amount of other festivals available, the weather and the constant muddy bullshit people have to go thru at glasto even when it is sunny it still turns into a shit tip.

I played at glasto quite a few times in my band days and it was always a total muddy sea.

Cheers Don

I know a lot of people who go to glasto year in year out no matter who plays.Never been myself ,was due to go with mate a few years back who was also a regular until he had his tent knicked!thumbsdown! which pissed him off no end so he vowed never to go again which put the mockers on me going.

Would agree with Noel Gallaghers comments about glasto being primarily about guitar bands.Although saw the Jurassic 5 at Reading a few years back who were brilliant and went down very well with what was mostly a metal crowd.I think though a couple of years later they tried 50 Cent who went down like the proverbial pork sausage at a Bar Mitzvah. So it probably really depends on whether the rap artist(s) buy in to the whole festival vibe really.

According to the official website, ?155 for a weekend ticket, plus ?5 booking fee per ticket and ?4 post and packaging per order...now are these cunts taking the piss or what?? No wonder there's 10,000 unsold tickets by all accounts...

It has NOTHING to do with a rap act headlining ONE day at glasto and more to do with the price and the fact there are way too many festivals now

Tons of rap acts have been at glasto over the years cypress hill, the roots, eminem,wu tang etc etc and i would bet by the time glasto comes around all the tickets will be sold anyway! only 10,000 left and a few weeks to go.

This probably has more to do with dickhead gallagher saying hip hop shouldnt be at glasto or whatever he said then again do people wanna hear a beatles cover band instead????

I think you've obviously not read the whole of my thread. I'm not only commenting on 'Glasto' being a boggy shit-hole and the way it's set-up to be Britain's premier open-air event, I was also pointing out that, in my humble opinion, the rapper 'Jay Z' was a bit, well, mediocre to be the headliner.

Of course if 'Snoop' was there, I may have be tempted to go. Damn, if George Clinton was there with the mothership, nothing could have stopped me going. And I f*****g 'Glasto'.

These 'swirling guitar' (sic) sounds that you're harping on about, it would'nt have anything to do with the likes of some tosser's who resemble, Radiohead, would you? Or maybe My Chemical Romance. Let me think, I'm on a roll here...The Feeling, Glassvegas. Who else are a bunch of white-middle-class whinging kids? Too many for my liking.

The core-part of my argument, was the whole set-up that is 'Glasto' and not just one particular act. One final point, are you a student...(Sorry for sounding like Paul Calf) ?
