Where would Colleen be without Rooney?

When I heard those two were tying the knot I just knew the whole thing would be a 'Hello' or 'OK' magazine thing. It's almost like that is why they are getting married, in order for that girl to have yet more media coverage. She pretends to write books and articles, even though she could probably barely write her own name, and is known for one reason and one reason only - because she is shacked up with him.

I remember reading an article where the journalist said the reason Colleen had forgiven Wayne for bonking someone else on two occasions was because to leave him would mean she would revert to her old life - a small flat in a grotty part of Liverpool and a job like working the checkout for ?200 a week at Tesco's. Not much of a choice really is it? Celebrity orientated people always annoy me - the mammoth ego's they have, where they think the whole world must be interested in what they do, and somehow millions of ordinary people would be having a less better time if they weren't constantly bombarded with information about these people's lives.

Who else gets annoyed by the whole celebrity thing (especially of non-entities like her)? She apparently flew to New York SIX TIMES just to make sure her dress fitted properly! Why does she not realise she is just ordinary like the rest of us?

1) She was with Rooney before he broke into the Everton 1st team.

2) Women without celeb/sports boyfriends have been known to forgive affairs.

3) It's the public at large -you and me- that decide who the celebs are. It's not Colleen's fault!

You have a choice Max. If it gets you down find people to inspire you instead. I know the celeb culture is pervasive but you can skip the page, switch the channel, and tune it out.

I thought it was bizarre in the Barry George re-trial that the prosecution have foregrounded his alleged celebrity obsession and alleged that he sat in front of the tv taking photographs of newsreaders. (He wasn't so obsessed that he bothered to get these films developed). The prosecution allege that this is evidence of an unhealthy obsession with celebrities and yet in the years that have passed since Jill Dando's murder a number of 'celeb' publications have hit the market and done very well. Why single George out when these publications have circulations in the hundreds of thousands ? Isn't it equally obsessive to buy Hello! and other magazines and to tune into tv which has a big celebrity emphasis? Would the prosecution be more reassured if George had been handing over ?2.50 a week for his celebrity fix ?

Thanks for your comments. It's true that one has a choice and can turn it off. I never turn it ON !! I don't think I have ever heard Wayne Rooney or that bimbo he goes out with speak. I assume they have Scouse voices but I wouldn't know. I'm selective about what I watch on TV and never ever watch reality shows featuring celebs (like that one with Jordan and her boyfriend, that failed Austrialian singer, and I hear this Coleen chick hosts one of those sort of shows too. I have never wached one second of either).

I spite of having no interest however, this story popped up a lot on today's news. That Coleen girl even positioned herself in what looked like a hotel lobby so that the paps could 'accidentally' snap her through the glass. Why didn't they just do what Liam Gallacher and Nicole Appleton did when they got married? They told no one, and did it totally privately, didn't get commercial sponsorship for it (unlike Wayne and Colleen) and never told anyone. As I recall it was found out sometime later by the press that the two had got hitched. Wayne and Colleen sold the thing to 'Hello' - largely to gaurentee she is kept in the media.

What I find ironic about these multi-million pound do's is that everyone always looks ridiculous! I have no interest in it, or in what Wayne and her are wearing but I can assure you he will look ludicrous and so will she! I disagree with commercial sponsorship for intimate things between people - Anthea Turner famously held a Flake chocolate bar, as did her guy, during their wedding photo's (incredible!). I wonder what will happen next? Will some top footballer have the name of a famous dogfood written on the back of his overpriced weird looking suit?

Hey, that's a good idea! Wayne walks up the aisle in some dark brown suit with huge lapels, tight round the hips trousers but which flare a bit from the knee down, a pair of square fronted slip-on shoes (think a villan in the 1970's cop show The Sweeney). A magnolia shirt and a ludicrous stipey tie, done into an enourmous tie knot - the tie has hideous patterns, and looks rather like a Trade Union leader's tie from the mid-1960's. Ironically, all this get-up costs thousands of pounds! I don't think I've ever seen anything so hilarious as a footballer wearing a suit! The term 'clueless' doesn't even cover it!

"one woman felt so threatened she actually jumped into the car of a passing car" .. Alice, the source of that information is the prosecution so it's hardly unbiased. It may or may not be true. George apparently had a gun like the murder weapon. Since the murder weapon has never been found what exactly does this mean? A weapon of the same calibre .. that's hardly conclusive. If your mind's made up Alice that's your call .. the fact that the case is being retried is because the conviction is unsafe which means there's a possibility that George didn't do it. If it's more comforting for you to believe that he did then so be it, and if it's comforting for you to believe that anyone with any kind of mental instability is a potential danger again, that's your call.

I'm supposing that by 'namby pamby' you mean anyone who isn't as right thinking as you ? I'm not condoning the neglect and abandonment of psychotic and dangerous individuals, but what percentage of people with mental health issues do you think that describes ? If someone has a stress related breakdown and is off work for a few months do you want them immobilized with medication to minimise the risk to yourself ?

I don't follow the antics or have any real interest in the goings on, but they're free to do whatever they want - they have the money. Maybe she's a thick bimbo, but he's just a thick footballer - so they'll probably be happy as long as he has the freedom to shag around and she has loads of money to spend.
