I've been scouring the back pages of today's papers and cannot believe the hypocrisy of Sir Alex Ferguson,or so famously known to us rival fans as Purple Face.

What also makes me laugh is his statement that Christiano Ronaldo will sign for Real Madrid this summer 'over his dead body'.

Lets get a few facts straight
Real Madrid ARE bigger than Man United,hystorically and globaly
Real Madrid are owned by the King of Spain,and funded by the Spanish treasury,reason why they never go into debt.
Real Madrid get what they want,as many many clubs have learned.

Ferguson's character assasination of Real and their President(Ramon Calderon) is also an insult that smacks of hypocrisy.

So Man Utd did'nt 'tap up' Jaap Stam,RVN,Rio,Carrick,Hargeaves,Rooney and Saha? !whistle!

Ferguson also claimed that if the Glazers sold Ronaldo over his head,then he would walk.Well,when the hirearchy at Madrid officially wave the ?80m golden carrot at the Glazers within the next few weeks,could we be seeing a new gaffer at O.T?

Careful what you wish for,Sir Alex.

Let's get this straight: Ronaldo has some years left on his contract and Man Utd are under no obligation to sell him. Oh, and apparently big Phil (you know, the new Chelsea boss) has been encouraging him to go to Madrid.

If the money were silly enough (?70m-?80m), I'd be inclined to sell---particularly if he wants to move. But the club is under no obligation to.

If Roman was really God your lot would have Hiidink as manager and not Scolari.

If Ronaldo's intent on going then so be it. Maybe Utd can insist on Sneijder as part of the deal ? Let's say Utd lost Ronaldo but gained for argument's sake Berbatov and Arshavin do you think Utd fans would be upset ? Maybe Ronaldo's overrated ... where was his impact on the Euros ? Everybody's talking about Arshavin now, or maybe Torres and Villa, not Ronaldo.

If Madrid 'get what they want' why was there a 32 year hiatus between winning the European Cup in 1966 and 1998 ?

2 Champions League Cups
2 league Cups
1 Cup Winners Cup
1 European Super Cup
1 World Club Championship
7 Charity Shields

That's 29 cups in 22 years.

I suppose it's doing Sir Alex a disservice to call him God. He's got to be bigger than that !laugh!

He may be under contract but once a player has decided he wants to leave there is not point in having a player at the club who does not have his heart in it.

He is probably worth more now than he ever will be, so if he wants to go then they may as well let him (assuming the offer is large enough).

People thought Cantona could not be replaced, or Beckham, RVN.

If he goes then within a few weeks the fans will have almost forgotten him.

And Andersson or Nani will soon grow to take his place.

Daft as it sounds, I think Man Utd's passing game, as well as Rooney's development has suffered because of Ronaldo. At Real Madrid, Ronaldo won't have Rooney and Tevez running their bollocks off every match to provide the space and freedom he thrives on.

Also, as Beckham found out, the refs won't give Ronaldo the designated 10 yards on freekicks; he'll get around 7-8 yards if he's lucky. The grass is dryer and longer in Spain and so running with the ball, at speed, won't be as affective as it is on the slicker pitches in England. He's too good to be a flop but I can't see him setting La Liga alight.

Just found this thread... nice work Mike. I have to say I agree with most of what you've said. HOWEVER... regarding Portugal, my "star man" is Jo?o Moutinho

As for Ronaldo, he won't find another team, either at club or international level, with two players like Tevez and Rooney who work their bollocks off to make him look good. As a consequence, he'll never be quite as good playing for Portugal (or Real Madrid when he finally moves there) as he is for Man Utd.
