Good to see The Guv'nor (tee hee) get the Blackburn job. I like Incey, always have.....good competitor who played for the shirt and gave 100% although unsure about his self styled 'Guvnor' moniker.
John Barnes was spouting off that he'd never had replies from teams in lower leagues when managerial vacancies cropped up, but obviously didn't think that he is a shit commenator with failed credentials in his brief foray in management.
I don't think it should be about Paul Ince's colour, more the fact that an up-and-coming English manager with proven abilities in club and country should be recognised compared to tossers like Bryan Robson who gets chance after chance and always ends up sacked/relegated/beaten finalist etc

Paul Ince is the first black British manager in the Premier League...I know this because no media outlet populated by hand-wringing, white guilt suffering middle class Guardianista twats can mention his name without bringing this little fact up.
So to clarify:
Paul Ince is not the first manager in the Premier League
Paul Ince is not the first British manager in the Premier League
Paul Ince is not the first English manager in the Premier League
Paul Ince is not the first black manager in the Premier League
...but he is the first black British manager in the Premier League. His managerial achievements with both Macclesfield and the MK Dons are of no consequence compared to his race and nationality!
For those black British managerial hopefuls who are currently beavering away on some UEFA course and have had their thunder well and truly stolen by Incey (the first black british manager in the Premier League, you know...), my message is take heart, because all is not lost. You can still be the first gay black British manager in the Premier League, the first transsexual black British manager in the Premier League, the first cross-dressing black British manager in the Premier League, or even the first quadraplegic HIV-positive black British manager in the Premier League. Even if you can't manage for shit, it doesn't matter to the media luvvies!
Next week on 606: Why black managers never get the top jobs, with special guests Frank Rijkaard (former coach of the Dutch national team and Barcelona) and Ruud Gullitt (former coach of Chelsea and Newcastle United)

I still don't think he has anywhere near enough experience to manage a club like Blackburn. We'll see.
Got to feel for him though as the club now has no money and We're (Spurs) are about to take Bentley off his hands.
Football is colour blind. If he wins, he'll be loved. If he loses, he'll be out.

I was listening to Talksport the day Ince was announced as Blackburn manager (Tuesday?).
Each news bulletin they said "He is the first black manager in the Premier league".
I kept thinking SO WHAT.
The fact he is black is of little importance and just reinforces his "colour" when we are all being told to embrace the diversity in the UK and ignore people's colour, sex, age etc.

Do you not feel that Spurs have turned a massive blind eye to what happened to Leeds ? Every player they're linked with seems to command a ?10-12 million fee. Does the financing concern you at all ?

I know where you're coming from, but it's not really the same scenario.
This season it's highly likely we'll sell Berbatov (cost ?10.5 million, worth ?25 million plus) and Lennon (cost ?1 million, worth ?7-10 million), and Robinson for about ?5 million. In January we bought Hutton, who looks solid, and I supect that means Chimbonda is out for ?4-5 million. All that cash will go into the kitty and their replacements look to be Bentley for Lennon with cash on top, Gomes for Robinson, and a striker to replace Berba. We'll have spent a little more than we've received but Bentley and Gomes are far better than those they replace. Dos Santos we got for a steal at ?4.5 million, and Modric was pricey but again far better than what we have.
Basically I think we'll end up about ?20 million out of pocket, after all the deals, a sum we can easily afford. The point is for the first time we've bought players who can make a difference today and are far better than those we want to sell. We're making sound investments, for once.
Spurs has a fanatically solid fanbase. WHL is sold out for every game, year in, year out, no matter how we're playing, and we have some of the highest ticket prices in the Premiership. Our sponsorship deal with Mansion is massive, I think it's the third best in the Premiership. Our finance comes from ENIC but it's backed by billionaire Joe Lewis. For three successive seasons we've played in Europe with all the attendant TV and game revenures.
In short, we do spend a ton with very little to show for it, but our audited finances show us to be one of the most solid clubs in the world. Levy is a fucking idiot, in terms of his handling of managerial appointments, but Jol and Ramos have moved us forward to a point where our income is rising. Levy is builiding the club to sell it, in my opinion, so he needs it to be financially sound. It is and that makes me happy.
Leeds spent what they didn't have, far too quickly. They had no real financial infrastructure. That isn't Spurs.
The reason Spurs' fans are delusional is that we remember the glory-glory days, and know we have the money to get them back...we just never seem to make it. We are a mile away from the top four, financially, but no other club is as well set up as we are in monetary terms. This season I'm certain we'll finish top six. Beyond that, who can say?
The spending will stop when we finally sort our stadium out, as it did for Arse. Like Arse, by that point we need a team that can perform well without any major additions for a couple of seasons while the new stadium is built. This is the only real way we'll ever claw back some ground on the top four. That period in our history will be very risky. Arse got through it magnificently, which is bloody annoying, I just hope we can too.
