Well, I'd certainly like a rebate after its been revealed that The Royal Family takes 66p off every person so they can lord it First Class around the world and show other world leaders how 'they survive' with OTT state banquets.
Fucking leeches, I would like to see them relocate to a council estate in Liverpool!
Oh, the ?40m touted, does NOT include MoD/Police security or MoD displays, thats extra!

Oh, and before Im berated by some of the 'Royalists' here, I guarantee if given the option of 'opting out' from having the paltry 66p taken, I honestly believe she'd be lucky to rake in ?10m. If private investors and commerce/business leaders want to top it up, that should be an option. That ?40m could be spent on far better things

I have no problem with 66p a year for the RF. I do object to the ?1mn an hour
we pay to the EU and lets not forget our sponging politicians, civil servants and those thousands on the public payroll who trouser thousands each year in non jobs like diversity officers and lesbian outreach workers.
And lets not forget all those public sector workers retiring on full pay at 40 with bad back, stress, an odd limp. Etc.

Propping up banks who gave 110% mortgages to chav's on benefits then want the public purse to bail them out.

?40Mn for the Royal family is a mere bagatelle compared to these other shysters.

Jesus said "Give unto Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar"

The Royals are steeped in tradition and are what this country is about. We cant very well have our ambassador living in chavy squalor now can we Ace?

What will that say for britains heritage if its monarchy were strapped for cash?

I'm not a devout royalist but I am certainly not anti-royal in the least either.

We would have to pay our taxes regardless anyway. I for one feel better that its spent on the royals ratherthan those thieving benefit cheats that seem to be on the rise these days. If I had one moan about taxes it would be about that.

As things go its not a lot of money compared with kick backs to the Eu and polititions expences and the huge gravy train that is the civil service (and all the covernment (both local and london based) "hangers on")...

Although if we were to do away with that lot then un-employment would rocket :-/

That said... if the stipend (I think its called) were to be abolished then the queen would be within her rights to have her lands returned to the monarch and collect her own taxes and rents there apon.

I'm fairly sure, but not 100%, that historically the monarch gave over the land(s) to HMG in exchange for a yearly pay cheque and that all "gifts" and benifts that they recieve from other countries go to "the people," if not in actuality then at least in the sence that they become proterty of the "UK" not the monarchy.

On a personal note (guessing, lol)... it was probably done when "income" from the estates and lands didnt match outgoings of the royals so seemed a good idea at the time (we have all seen how many "landed gentry" cant afford the upkeep of their homes and estates, lord "fucking" fulford springs to mind)... but guess they are kicking themselves now that land and estates are at such a premium and valued in many multiples of their original cost were they be sold to private investors as development realestate, lol.

Also without being "royalist" I think that on the whole they do more good than bad for the uk, both through tradition and all the wheeling and dealing they do behind the scenes.

We get the cash back from tourism anyway - think of all those Americans who want to see the palace etc.

I don't like inherited privilege, but nevertheless the royal family must actually make a profit for the country.
