pls help i'm having probs, recently installed avg pro 08 & everything has gone wrong, tried unistalling avg but it fails to, also i have a screen saver that has appeared saying i have spyware on my system , i've tried using my acer recovery disc (which has worked fine b4) to re install windows xp but after doing that it seems to have not worked, should i get hold of a proper windows disc & format my drive & re install that way?

Re-installing Windows sounds like a drastic move! I hope you had tried Windows Safe Mode and System Restore before you took such a big step!
As a rule, anything that pops up and tells you that you have spyware on your system and invites you to pay for a program that will remove it is a scam designed to get your money and install more spyware on your hard drive!
If Windows is starting at all ( try Safe Mode ) try to get to System Restore. If you can get your web browser to open at all try looking for help at
http://www.pcdoctor-guide.com and remove whatever spyware you've acquired.
Only download software from reputable sites ( although it's hard to believe that your version of AVG was infected! ) and ALWAYS back up your files and create a System Restore point before installing ANYTHING!
If all else fails a clean install of Windows from your original ACER disks ought to work, no need to try and find a Windows disk form any other source.
