Exhibitionism...

My mind was drawn to this subject when watching a couple of interviews with a UK pornstar who confessed in one of them to being an Exhibitionist. I thought that being such a person was defined as someone who liked showing off their body, having people look at them, and in some cases being watched having sex. I thought it was a preference - rather like how someone might like certain food, certain music rather than another kind of music, etc - but I am now thinking that the whole Exhibitionism thing is a much deeper thing within someone and something that the person can not control. Does anyone know about this subject? It seems to me to be something so deep as to be a profound need within the person, and a chemical rush is created within the individual when they are looked at when wearing very little and so on. This pornstar who I saw the two interviews with confessed to being such a thing in the first one and in the other interview I saw she couldn't take her eyes off the camera and had a wry smile on her face knowing she was being filmed. She was very fidgety and at one point the guy panned down with the camera to her feet and back up to her face and she closed her eyes and breathed-out hard before opening her eyes again and was then almost panting. Being filmed had clearly created such an ego rush that she had become overwhelmed at what was happening, thus suggesting that being an Exhibitionist is a deep routed thing connected with a need within someone's brain and their chemical make up. I found this quite fascinating - this person was the first one of that kind I had ever knowingly seen and all of this fascinated me. Does anyone know what causes Exhibitionism, do those affected have it from birth, is it heridatory, is there a chemical inbalance in the brain that is previlant from birth that creates this chemical rush, within the person in those situations, for the rest of their life? Is it curable, are their any theories as to why some humans have this deep routed trait, how many humans are affected by this condition? I find all this very fascinating. Does anyone know the answers to any of these questions, or anything about the condition in general? There are 5 or 6 UK pornstars, past and present, that I'm a fan of, and this is the first one I know of who has this condition.

Your posts are reminiscent of someone who used to visit here, and had an interest in psychology.

Hey-up, Olay!

Can I start with a beseechment? Please, please, please endeavour to use paragraphs! My eyes are undone here!
I thought it was a preference - rather like how someone might like certain food, certain music rather than another kind of music, etc - but I am now thinking that the whole Exhibitionism thing is a much deeper thing within someone and something that the person can not control.
But isn't it as you first thought? Can I control my tastes in food more than my taste for exhibitionism (or lack of)? I suppose we all have a natural tendency towards certain traits at the genetic level, but nurture and life's experiences either dull or enhance our inclinations.

I'm guessing that all pornstars are at least more exhibitionist than your average Joe Bloggs. Even if they're only in porn for the money, they think the financial gain is much more important than society's general expectations, concerning the level of exhibitionism considered acceptable, or 'normal'.

You stated that you found this phenomena 'fascinating'(twice) and you were also 'fascinated'. Can I suggest 'engrossing' and 'interesting' as well?

Still, a 'riveting' post, Olay. A much needed change from the unremitting babecast crap.

Could you not put a few paragraphs in there? A block of text that big is difficult to read and looks horrible.

'Tis true, I should have broken up the text and made it into paragraph's. Sorry about that. I've read a bit online about Exhibitionism in the last hour or two and it is refered to as a 'mental disorder' in one thing I read. Someone elsewhere described it as something they had had all their lives and apparently, so their mother has recently told them, they used to stand and stare at their reflection in a mirror when they were very small. This person said that they have always thought the human body to be the most beautiful thing in the world. Interesting.

So a mental disorder, and something that an individual has from when young (if not from birth). So it really is a condition, something probably diagnosable on a scan of the brain - in other words a proper medical state to be in. This particular pornstar has this genuine condition, not just something she likes doing but needs to do and being wat

I may look online further to try and see if there are any theories as to why people think some humans have this and how many in every 100 (aproximately) are affected.

A mental disorder??? I think the saying if you got it flaunt it comes to mind. I think people who look after themselves, especially girls who look good usually feel good and porn is just an excuse to flash what ya mamma gave ya.

The contradicting side to this is that I know for a fact that some girls have insecurity issues which makes it all the more complex as to why they do it...Oh yeah the money helps but is more than just that.

Well I guess some of us are mental to be in a business where we get our kecks off and swing our willys out in the wind.

Shaggings the bonus and to make a living out of it....Life certainly has its moments.

There is something liberating and mischeivous about exhibitionism but I wont rule out the mental disorder. I just wouldnt generalise it.
