Okay, I'll bite.
All the people you've named are black, so what exactly is a "coloured" person? Someone who buys their clothes from Benetton?

So why not say black or Asian? Pink, as has been pointed out before, is also a colour. Or are you just being politically correct in not wanting to say "black"?
Coloured is the term apartheid-era South Africa used for those who were not black but just not white enough. It is a word that carries a lot of luggage, and can be seen at its most basic as meaning "not us." To be honest, I'd like to leave it festering in the past.

Which is why I am fixating on you using the term.
Nitpicking or pedantic? Maybe.
As for the story itself, I tend (for the sake of my blood pressure) to avoid such things. Too many previous pieces (whiteboards; brainstorming sessions being "offensive" to epilepsy sufferers; and that stupid teachers' delegate a few years back saying that in exams there should be no failures---just "deferred passes") have brought me teetering to the edge.
