To be honest, I think he should have been awarded a LOT more. They had nothing on him and even the Portuguese police said as much after their initial search and questions.
I'll expect he'll try and sell his story now, but can't see any paper running it

I think this arose because of the differences between the English and Portuguese legal systems. Here, the police question you, and then, if they have the evidence, charge you. You are then remanded or bailed to await trial. If you are not charged, you are free to go. In Portugal they can declare you a suspect, and then just leave you spinning in the wind for months or even years. On the whole I prefer our system.

I heard an interview with him yesterday - the 'suspect' status apparently can't be lifted until the case is closed which must just be absolute hell for both him and the McCanns.

I remember the first night he was named as a suspect - some hard bitch of a reporter for Sky News was bragging about how she'd tipped the police off to the strange individual who'd been hanging around the scene. Don't know why Sky News didn't have to pay as well, they were as bad as the newspapers.

The British media is run by a bunch of cunts, but seeing 50% of the population are cunts as well, that's ok.

So with this case in mind how much will the McCanns be looking for in compensation for being accused (by every publication in Europe) of the abduction/murder of little Madelaine then??

Seems a strange one this as he is still an official suspect and this ruling is basically saying "not guilty" surely the Portugeezers should be the only ones saying that.
