The Dutch grow a lot of Asparagus, because it likes growing in sandy soil - and that's all they've got. They used to get the Poles to pick it cheaply, even before they were in the EU. I'm not sure who picks it now - although I'm sure a few pervy types do stick it up their arse before shipping to market.

I am pervy, but would never resort to inserting vegatables up my back door, and Mr Liz would recommend all other forumites to avoid this practice, as it could lead to 'asparagus syndrome' and I dont think there is a cure for that at the moment.

Avoid sticking veggies up yer back botty Liz otherwise they'll take root and start to grow. !wink!
