The name Ernest Saunders mean anything to you, Colonel? I don't recall his trial being held in Scotland.

Isn't Saunders the only man ever to recover from quite advanced Alzheimers diseases/dementia ?

'kinell Alice he's 74 .. for one thing his curfew requires him to be at home between 11am and 11pm and even if that weren't so I don't think he's going to go on a murderous spree on some kind of whim.
It does seem a lenient sentence passed on the basis that they can't be arsed coughing-up to accommodate him in a prison or secure hospital. Cheaper to have a probation officer, social worker and community nurse check-up on him.

According to the report, the wife's arteries weren't in the best of states and it wouldn't have taken much pressure to stop the blood flow to the brain. Maybe he just lost his temper and didn't mean to kill her?
Ok, a bloke that grabs his wife by the throat when he's angry, doesn't seem very nice, but a premeditating killer?

"The pensioner, who has had three heart attacks, could not remember who the Prime Minister was when he was questioned at the time of the killing last April and called him "that curly headed bloke".
I know what he means. he's that insignificant.
