The answer machine Jim Rockford had, was the first I'd ever seen - at the time it was cutting-edge technology. It was about the size of a breeze block. Most American designed objects resemble boxes in some way, seeing they have absolutely no design flair - that was the thing that struck me the first time I wnen to America, just how boxy everything was! If thry can't fit everything into one box, they just join two/three boxes together - which is essentially what US cars, trucks, buildings - and virtually everything else are.

The man was a living legend. R.I.P Isaac.

Yo Ace, that was inspired casting for Escape From New York when Carpenter was at his height.

Last decent movie Mr Carpenter turned out was Vampires with James Woods (he couldnt go wrong with James Woods in it)

Oh yeah and I loved Issacs version of "Walk On By". Music has lost another great one.
