Watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics I commented to a friend that most of the major countries were greeted from the stands by heads of state whilst Team GB had to make do with Princess Anne, I remarked that I was surprised that the Beckham's hadn't been asked to greet Team GB
I didn't know at the time that Beckham is indeed taking part in the closing ceremony, apparantly the 2012 organising committee see him as the face of GB sport, how much longer have we to put up with Brand Beckham? he no longer lives in this country nor does he ply his trade here, time to move on I think.

The Brown Bottler is attending the closing ceremony, apparently. He's such a coward he never really confirmed or denied whether he would attend the opening, he just slinked off after parliament closed for the summer and hoped nobody would notice. His attendance wouldn't have added anything, seeing he has zero charisma.

China just admitted some of the opening ceremony was faked (some of the fireworks were digital images and the girl "singing" was miming to another girls voice).
So maybe we just need a hologram of Gordon Brown in the stadium and he does not even need to go there.

I have a friend...all I will say is 'Jimmy Page'. And no more than that.

What is the point of opening ceremonies anyway?
I mean its not like you got to the Proms or Glastonbury and they put on a game of foottie or some hockey or something to put you in the mood for the music?
So why do we need a big musical extravaganza before the sport?
