Bit of an odd topic perhaps to most people - but I was just wondering how ppl find themselves d e s i g n i n g the g r a p h i c s for porn companies particularily those like Private who have got as well d e s i g n e d g r a p h i c s as a lot of mainstream companies/movies.

Is the route in to this the same as that of the conventional d e s i g n path? Just nosiness really as a soon to be graduate g r a p h i c d e s i g n e r

I dont know to much about this really, but i should imagine that to design a top class cover you need to start with a top class photo taken on set, and for that you will need a top class photographer who can produce quality images at a high resolution, if you look at some of the quality covers you can see that the actors/actresses portrayed in the prominent image on the cover actually posed for these shots as opposed to the shots just being taken as the action unfolds, so i would imagine you would start with a shit hot image and build your design around it, well that is how i would do it but im no graphic designer !wink!

I forgot to mention, if the cover is for a porno and the prominent image is going to be a cum shot then of course you cannot pose a cum shot as you only get one chance which is why it is known as the pay shot, so you are probably better off using a screen shot but make sure it is shot in HD, but again there are probably some photographers around who specialise at shooting cum shots, what a way to make a living !wink!

That's how I would work with the photo but I wondered if all the companies have their own designers or if it's all a bit DIY in the industry ? I know certain companies on here do their own stuff and I'm often surprised that the level is pretty professional for people i assume to be "amateurs".
