Never realised until now it was spelled monkees. They had a load of catch tunes and most are listenable to on the radio, though not the sort of stuff you'd bang on the CD player.

As it's getting such a good review here just to mention that the song was written by US singer songwriter John Stewart, who passed away recently.

He had a minor UK hit in the 1980's "Gold" - taken from the LP "Bombs Away Dream Babies" - produced by the team behind Fleetwood Mac's massive 1980's albums - obvious from even the briefest listen...
