I heard that show on Friday morning. He did call the man a Nazi, then qualified it later as a Health Nazi, he knew he'd gone over the top. It wasn't really that offensive in the context it came up - the term was just used to describe the man's attitude towards smokers. It certainly didn't offend me, I don't think he deserved to be suspended, although the bloke he called a Nazi would be a right pain in the arse to work for, a class one jobsworth.

But he was right about smokers, they're a pain in the arse.

They want to get rid of these fat old hacks that are killing radio, their type of humour aint funny and never has been, and it is certianly not suitable for todays climate. Guys like this have been on the radio for years, thats why radio has declined. Bring back radio like BBC7, proper radio shows that entertain, If I want to listen to some old fat git nagging on I would go down my local.

I agree totally hat smokers are a pain in the arse - and personally I agree with banning them from adopting children. But this man came over exactly as you'd expect a bumbling bureaucrat to. Calling him a Nazi was just a euphemism, obviously not a fact. An extreme over reaction because people think they need to be offended by use of certain language - he should have just erred on caution and called the bloke a tosser

I spoke to Gaunty once- and like Whaley, it is a bit for show. He actually apologised to my mate for having to rip into him on the air- this on the off-air pre-chat- and said it was part of the show. Agreed.

Talksport and stations of that ilk is the kind of radio that turns me off the medium, the saving grace is digital radio, I bought a nice one and have been glued to BBC7. What a service. Shows like Philp Marlowe, staring Ed Bishop, up the garden path, Sherlock holmes, ETC. Best of all is the new series of Dr who, I have not been a Dr who fan since I was a kid, but the radio series with Paul McGann is superb. This is what the radio was made for, great shows that scare, and make you laugh. You can keep this shock jock shite.
