I was contacted once by a fellow who had heard that I am very popular with teenage students, due to my fondness for rock and blues music, and my general empathy with the younger generation. He had been told that most of my students regarded me as a friend and confidante.
It was arranged that he should bring his son to see me and that I was to see if I thought the boy might have any aptitude for violin playing. He also told me that he suspected that his son might be gay, and asked if I might try to find out if that was the case.
Anyway, on the appointed day, he brought his son to my studio and left him with me for an hour. An hour later, he returned for his son and said that he would phone me later.
Well, that evening he phoned. I began by giving him the bad news that his son had little aptitude for music at all.
"However, he is not gay", I continued.
"Are you sure?", asked the father.
"Oh yes", I replied, "his arse is way too tight".

Re: The Violin Teacher as Friend and Confidante
I would guess that most violin teachers are homosexuals, unless they're Gypsies - then they'd be bisexual.
