I believe you sign the contract when you go to the very first audition, so everyone signs it because no-one believes they'll ever be in the position to have it enforced upon them.
Not many people realise that these manufactured bands and 'singers' are simply employees of the management, just like burger flippers.
I believe when they started, Girls Aloud were on ?80/day each, and 4p per record sold.
