A great man. Saw him at a cricket forum in Sydney during the last ashes.
He was a legend.

Very sad news indeed. The bearded wonder has been on TMS virtually all the years I can remember (and that's quite a lot).

RIP Bill

Yes, very sad news indeed.

The undisputed king of all sports statisticians... he helped me get hooked on scoring cricket games while first listening to TMS as a kid - especially "Botham's Ashes" in 1981 and the World Cup two summers later.

Very sad news. i shall miss his lugubrious responses to Aggers and Vic Marks gentle wind-ups.
