With the large number of repeats on tvx, and as most of the stuff on there looks as though it comes from the same 3 or 4 producers. I was wondering if they pay repeat fees like 'conventional' telly.

Ha ! In a word no. What they pay the people they couldn't do without is............pathetic.
Ah but don't market forces and all that sort of stuff Dave I hear you cry...........bollocks. If they didn't overpay the people that run the UK adult channels there would be a lot more quality for a start and the money would go to the correct people.........the performers and more importantly the producers.

As far as I am aware, repeat fees have not been paid to producers throughout the broadcast industry for many years. The concept started with the BBC whose staff having just left Oxford or Cambridge would reward their toff producer chums, who were also from Cambridge and Oxford, with repeat fees for their programmes, ensuring that they lived in luxury until they died.
P.S. I cannot do any punctuation because I am writing from Prague on a Czech keyboard, which is too damn foreign for me to work properly!

Interseting that repeat fees are no longer. But surely there is some kind of payment similar to the payments song writers get each time one of their tunes gets air time.

Musicians have the PRS fighting their corner, so yes some, composrers can make a fortune. Some actors, writers and actresses get them, but most jobbing producers for TV dont.
Anyway why should they, its a bit like a plumber installing a central heating system in your house, getting paid and then insisting he gets a fee every time you turn it on!............youd tell him to f... off.
As I said it was originally a way for Toffs to reward each other for ever. People like John Cleese, a classic telly toff, still rake it in for Fawlty Towers.

I have sold a number of films to the adult channels and the contract you sign makes it quite clear that there will be no repeat fees and that they own the complete rights to the film, the contract also states that they can resell the rights to whoever they like.

If a tv company was selling advertising and subscriptions off the back of something I had thought up and produced I would expect a slice of the action.
And if John Cleese does't make money of Fawlty Towers Who should?
