I just heard this in the news this morning over here in the U.S. The British gov is planning on keeping track of brits travels to other places by looking at seating on planes, credit card usage, bookings etc. Man! Talk about big brother, I just thinking about when y'all started out with putting cameras out in public in the mid 1980s. Judas Priest:Electric Eye!!!

And after 9/11 you dont think the US government do this?

The difference is our government tell us they are going to do it, the US government doesn't.

We have GCHQ over here (our spy / listening centre) and the US probably have their equivalents, so there is probably all sorts of things they check on they we dont know about.

The US authorities have been keeping track of in/outs for years - they fingerprint and iris scan every tourist, they get advance lists of all passengers on planes travelling to the US, we now have to apply online for an electronic visa before travelling - to see if we're on any blacklist. They're years ahead of us in the surveillence game, only theirs probably works to some extent.

The shower we call a government will never get a large scale IT project to work, so we can all relax. They'll end up losing millions of records, leaving discs on trains and targetting pensioners in Walsall because their name was similar to a suspected terrorist who came in via Warsaw!

One way to screw up their storage plans, if a devious person wanted to go somewhere and not let them know - get the train to Paris and then buy a ticket to wherever from there. They'll have 250M records of innocent travellers - and the few hundred terrorists will go via another country.

Yeah. The iris scan may be recent but I do know they have (the U.S.) have been keeping track for years. Terrorists is the one reason the brit gov wants to do this. When it comes to surveillence though, yeah we've been ahead of the game but things like public security cameras outside of buildings watching people walking up and down streets and street corners is an early 1990s thing for us where you were ahead of us a few years or so.

There's no problem from me- unlike the moaning minnies or the Tories and their terrorist chummies, I say to the 'antis':

Just what do you have to hide from the Police?

Where do you personally draw the line before it becomes 'too much'?

Perhaps a tracking chip implanted in your body so 'they' know where you are every second of every day? Because if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

Or maybe cameras and microphones fitted in every room in your house, recording 24/7? Because if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

Just because others have a lower level of toleration to state intrusion does not make them moaning minnies.
