People you knew who were murdered or suicided

I met two people who were murdered in completely unrelated circumstances. In both cases the murders were caught (they were both nutters, one a psychopath and the other escaped from a psychiatric hospital).
I was also at the same party as someone who later killed himself - he was apparently semi-permanently strung out on magic mushrooms.
I also exchanged emails with someone who later killed himself.
I strongly suspect that both suicide victims were bipolar.

Arch, you say the first two murders were unrelated circumstances however isn't their demise at the hands of people with mental instabilities (diagnosed or not) a common denominator ?
Can one be 'strung-out' on mushrooms ? It's a term more commonly used in relation to harder drugs such as heroin. Still, if their reality was mediated by 'shrooms their state of mind was probably tenuous and fragile.
Were what you describe as suicides defined as such by the coroner, or does calling them suicide reveal your enthusiasm for bi-polarity and associated morbidity ?

Murder 1 was clearly premeditated and was clearly psychopathic. The murder was skint and and and wanted money urgently so he could visit his girlfiend abroad and made use of opportunism to get his money - the fact that he had to stab someone to get the money was of little consequence to him. Incidentally the detective work was amazing. There was a blood stained foot print with the treadmark of a very rare trainer shoe only available by mail order. The police worked out the model of the trainer from the treadmark, contacted the mail order company and got a complete list of people who had bought that trainer from them by mail order. Out of 100 addresses, one was local so they nabbed him.
Murder 2 - I very much doubt if there was any rational motive. It just seemed to be a schizophrenic on the loose from a mental institution.
Suicide 1 - yes you are right - most people would only take mushrooms occasionally but I think he obviously had a psychiatric condition in which he was addicted to the spaced out psychotic world of mushrooms. It could have been OCD but I just believe it may be more likely be bipolar as I think that is the mental condition which someone may have where they are most likely to kill themselves.
Suicide 2 - the guy was living a very high risk life and when it went tits up - he killed himself. This behaviour (high risk lifestyle and suicide) is classic bipolar behaviour.
I have an interest in plenty of other mental conditions than bipolar such as ADHD, OCD, various personality disorders, narcissism, aspergers etc etc and could happily rattle on and on about them instead of bipolar if you wish.

Maybe the common thread is they all knew you. Seeing your hobby is bi-polar dysfunction, maybe most of your acquaintances are in this sphere as well - where murder/suicide is more prevalent.

Yeah yeah. I am actually more interested in narcissistic dysfunction (the cause of the credit crunch for example). Not everyone i meet or contact gets murdered or kills themself - but you never know - you could be next

Keith,
Someone I knew jumped from the top of a 22 storey block of flats.
Someone else I knew had his brains blown out in Cardiff Bay.

*sigh* I come around for a gander and you're still getting the damn plain obvious, wrong. Keith is either Reggie Perrin or Max Tranmere. Maybe both as I've lost count how many aliases he's had over the years (Rasputin, Giles, ad infinitum).
A few things I am sure of is that:
1. You're always wrong....ok, that's unfair. You're mostly wrong, and a bit of a div.
2. Arch Stanton = Olayphtangphtangbistcuitbarrell
How am I so sure? Well, I could go on about how clever and aware I am, or praise my own detective skills, but, alas, I've no need as Archy himself told us all in no uncertain terms:
I admire the amount of egg one can endure on one's face, perpetually, over a prolonged period of time. Really colonballs, you continually outdo yourself. The real Keith in disguise must be laughing his tits off everytime you call Arch, 'Keith.' Archy must think you're a bit of a twat as well !laugh!
Please.....no need to thank me, old chum. Take it as a belated Christmas gift. What better gift than knowledge, eh?
Toodle-pip!

1. You never went away!
2. You lurk constantly.
3. You or the Scottish One have a small range of alter-egos on here- easily spotted by their fanaticism or sheer damn lunacy.
But you entertain me. You, the Scottish One and Keith.
But- is that three, or two, or one...?
And who am I then...?

One of my great friends who I played football with for many years cut his own throat with a blunt knife 7 years ago now. We still cannot quite believe that he did it. The crazy thing was that we all turned up at the funeral and got very very drunk (which he would have told us to do) and many of us felt that we could have saved him.
It turned out to be a wonderful night brought on by such a sad day.
And my other one was some may remember years ago the Angolan mercenries. Well one of them (the one in the wheelchair) was another mate of mines brother. And poor old Stuart never got over losing his brother. He somehow managed to throw himself in between two trains.
