I hope this guy loses the court case, and has to pay all his own costs. If being called "Jock" is something he would consider suing for he wouldn't have lasted very long in some of the jobs I've done. I've been called a "dickhead", a "f***ing idiot" and many other things in jobs I've had during my working life.

This guy gripes that someone said to him "there are too many Asians living in Britain" - his response to this is to view it as a bad comment. What if there ARE too many Asians living in Britain? There are probably too many Brits living in Spain. If the comment is reasonable it doesn't make it bigoted. If several million more Brits moved to Spain, the notion that a Spanish person could view that as "too many" and be regarded as a bad person is absurd. There may be too many of many races living in differnt countries of the world.

If the other guy had said "I dont like Asians living in Britain", or similar, then that is racist - but talking simply of numbers can not be. Why doesnt this guy call the Immigration Department 'racist' if it was to have a limit on immigrants (the limit may still be very high). Or should we just have 10 million of every race living here and that be deemed acceptable? And on his main whinge, about how these English pilots are of the view that Scotland is largely a welfare state which is bankrolled by English middle class taxpayers, what if that is factually accurate? Scotland IS hugely subsidised by England? If it is accurate information then it can not be viewed as a bad remark. Unless this guy is living in a parallel universe where what really happens doesn't really happen.

Unfortunately though, these days the knee-jerk and rather silly reaction of the "come on in, the benefits are lovely" crowd (including, it has to be said, a few people who post here) is to regard any and all suggestions that there should be strict (or at least strictER) immigration controls as "racist".

They appear incapable of making the same distinction that you make above - even though increasing numbers of immigrants are actually "white" (from Central and Eastern Europe).

Countries like Canada and Australia have got it about right: If you are a GENUINE asylum seeker and not simply an economic migrant, or if you have something tangible and beneficial to offer (and I mean skills-wise, not just in some wish-washy "cultural diversity" kind of way) then you're welcome to enter. Otherwise, you can fuck right off.

How much oil and gas have we taken out of of scotland over the years? It cuts both ways! I seem to remember Kelvin 'scum' Mckenzie writing in his column in the currant bun that everyone north of the watford gap owed everything to the billions made in the city. He's gone strangley silent on that topic as of late! I wonder why?!

As a post-script to my post above (before someone jumps down my throat) - I DO understand that the UK is to a great extent hamstrung by the EU ('freedom of movement' and all that). But that still doesn't make the current situation healthy or desirable, as it brings with it major problems as well as benefits.

So all the rig workers, shipbuilders on Teeside who built the rigs, pilots, chefs etc were Scottish? Shell is Dutch, BP is London based and the other rigs are owned by American businesses. Dream on mate. I am half English, half Scottish and proud of both roots. Scotland could not survive on its own. Only a year or so ago Grand High Wizard Salmond was holding Iceland in the spotlight as Scotland's role model on how to run a successful, small nation...I rest my case your worship. Salmond would tax you to death.
