Soho

I get down to London maybe 2 or 3 times a year for a short break and I usually drift down by Soho for an hour or two. Is it my imagination or is Soho becoming a lot more ?Gay Friendly??
The last twice I?ve been down, the touts asked if I wanted girls (which I expect) and when I said no I was immediately offered boys. I?ve even been offered tickets to a Vicar and Choirboys show.
Maybe I?m just getting in touch with my feminine side and it?s being picked up by the gay community (god I hope not).
I?m not anti gay but I am probably old fashioned and to be honest I?d rather not see two men putting their tongues down each others throat when I?m walking down the street looking for an ale house.
Before any one makes a point ----- I would not take offence at two women doing the same thing but I put that down to my own sexual preferences.

Dont you think a gay friendly soho is also reflected in a more gay friendly television for example.

It seems that people like Graham Norton, Alan Carr and others are rammed down our throat on TV (if you will excuse the image).

Some of Graham Norton's "gay" comments on Comic Relief the other day were downright crude.

I also watched the "best of" comic relief program a few days before.

There was plenty of male nudity (Billy Connolly running round piccadilly circus nude, and the mass male strip on stage) but there was not one female strip and no "bare boobs" at all.

A few years ago a topless woman was seen as OK, but now it is seen as sexist and demeaning, whereas a male nude is somehow seen as no problem and rather amusing.

How times have changed.

Guilbert, if you were offended by Norton's crudeness first time round why did you watch the repeat ?

As Reggie Perrin says, Soho's always been like that.

I guess you're talking of the Old Compton Street area?
