Did anyone see the edition of his new chat show last week? I watched a repeat of it yesterday. I don't think I've ever seen a gag go so wrong, and the person being interviewed so embarassed. It was excruitiating and the programme controllers are probably considering not giving him another series after this.

This Australian actress he was interviewing had just made a film with US actress Glenn Close. Collins decides to ask a load of scripted questions about her, but really he was asking about a road in Sussex called Glenn Close. We, the audience, and the person he was interviewing, had been shown that there was a road called Glenn Close in a Sussex town, and we were supposed to find it amusing that he was conflating the two. Questions like "how many bottles of wine does Glenn Close get through in a week - is it more or less than 200?" The gag being he is referring to the road, but we are supposed to laugh as he MAY be referring to her! The girl he is interviewing was puzzled and embarassed. "Are you talkng about the actress or the suberb?" she kept saying.

Next, Collins asks "how many children does Glenn Close have, and by how many men?". Again we are supposed to cackle at the 'is it the road or the person' he is asking about?. All the interviewee kept asking, with a troubled look on her face, was "do you mean the actress or the suberb?" Then another comment from Collins about how "the postman goes up Glenn Close every day" didn't get many laugh's either and made the girl he was talking to even more embarassed. There were a couple more questions along the same lines and none of them worked either. The girl he was talking to got more embarassed and looked even more uncomfortable.

You could see editing had taken place aswell - as sometines he'd be in mid-sentence then next second he is more relaxed and starting a new sentence. The editing clearly having taken place as the whole thing was just going so wrong. The un-edited version of this would have been even more excruitiating. The 5 or 10 minutes of this were awful. You found yourself watching it though your fingers. This Australian girl would have never have heard of Collins before but wont forget this in a hurry! Did anyone else see it and if so what did you think? I imagine ITV2 are wondering if they made a mistake by hiring this guy.

Hi Max,

I saw the show but I didn't think what you're referring to was excruciating, just not as funny as the rest of the show. I'm sure the actress would have been briefed about Justin's humour and style, so I don't reckon she'd have been too traumatised! !happy!

I will watch this show if there is nothing else on, but not for any other reason. I doubt it will get a second series.
