OK. How would you pronounce this child's name? "Le-a"

Leah? .....No
Lee - A? .....Nope
Lei? .....Guess Again.

This child attends a school in Livingston Parish, LA. Her mother is irate because everyone is pronouncing her child's name wrong. It's pronounced "Ledasha."
When the Mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said, "The dash don't be silent."

So, if you see a name similar to this, please remember to pronounce the dash.

If they axe you why, tell them, "The dash don't be silent!".

The voicing of a hyphen and the inability to pronounce names like
Zbigniew Brzezinski are both the result of an inadequate educational
system. They differ in degree, not kind

What about Menzies Campbell ... why is that pronounced 'Ming' ? It's just people wanting to be different. There's no harm in it.

You wouldn't be allowed that name over here. You can only register a name that has the approval of the Passport Agency, and they refuse to issue passports to people with numbers or symbols in their name. Its the reason why Gazza couldn't change his name to G8.
