Tesco's to double in size in the next 10 years...

I heard this today. Tesco's, the UK's biggest retailer, will be twice this big in a decade's time, and when you consider how big they already are, then I think they could eventually take over everything. They anticipate doubling again over the subsequent 10 years, and again over the following 10, meaning they will be 4 times as big as they presently are in 20 years time, and 8 times as big as they are now in 30 years time! They will be running 1,000's of cornershops by then, garden centres, fast-food outlets, cinema complexes, you name it. Is this mass expansion and domination by Tesco's a good thing?

A lot of that predicted growth will not be in the UK - all they want to do is be a global brand like WalMart. Personall I'm not bothered what they do - I don't shop there that often, even though it is the only supermarket left in this town.

Tesco is a very successful British company, how long before it's taken over by a Spanish one?, anyway a creature of my status would not be seen dead in Tesco's, I will stick to small business's and farm shops, and try to help the rural community, and economy.

Apparently Inverness in Scotland is known as 'Tesco-town' as ?1.00 in every ?4.00 spent in the town (on anything) is spent in a Tesco's. A bit of trivia: when Jack Cohen started Tesco's many years ago one of the first products he stocked was tea packaged by a company called T E Stockwell. Cohen took those three initials, and the first two letters of his own surname and the name TESCO was born. A bit of trivia there for the train spotters!!

Well I am a part time Tesco Train Spotter ... and I never knew that!!
I think some of Tesco's stuff is really piss poor and not as good as Morrisons or Asda - especially the fruit and veg and ready meal sections. I could almost guarantee that up here in Scotland Asda is way bigger than Tesco ... but then us jocks obviously have a bit of taste.

Want a bet? Asda is cheap walmart shit. For electricals and clothes Asda and Tesco are good, I wouldn`t touch Asda`s meats though fucking reprocessed shite. Morrisons went down the shitter when they took over safeway.

I would love to turn the tables on Tesco, and royally fuck Terry Leahy up the ar$e. Not that I'm gay or anything, it's just time for some sweet revenge.
