Re: Man Utd v Spurs
Awful, awful refereeing decision. Plain awful.
And no, I'm not talking about the penalty decision, that was understandable in real time. No, I'm talking about the 2-footed, studs up, knee-high lunge on Ronaldo by Palacios. Not even a yellow and the ref had a good view.
Would have cut Ronaldo in half had he not jumped out of the way.

Three times as many shots as Spurs, three times as many coners, 59% possession and Spurs were still 1-2 up when the penalty went in.
Spurs are a side who put a gutless performance in at Old Trafford in the FA Cup and folded under pressure yesterday. Not good enough ! How is that down to the ref ?

Yep. Bad refereeing, letting Palacios stay on the field after his attempted knee-capping of Ronaldo.

Fuck me, that evil cunt needed sending off. A tackle like that could snap a man's legs and end his career. Anyone who can do that to a fellow professional is a cunt and should be thrown out of the game for life.

He might have been going for the ball to be fair but it was reckless and deserved a red.
It was 6 mins in and the score 0-0. Funnily enough MOTD didn't mention it once and concentrated 90% of the post match analysis on the soft penalty. Spurs fans and neutrals who didn't watch the live game wouldn't have known about it and so assume Man Utd got back into the game by a biased ref. Pure sensationalism.
In reality Spurs should have been playing with 10 men for 84 mins + stoppage time at Old Trafford. I've not seen a worse tackle this season apart from the one Kuyt did a few months ago (he didn't get sent off either).

Looks more reckless than malicious to me - but the end result would have been the same had Ronaldo not been so fleet of foot.
Sam, remember that horrible injury suffered by Wednesday's Ian Knight against Chester back in the late 80s that effectively ended his career? Kind of reminds me of that a bit. In terms of the potential damage it could have done anyway.

I never saw the tackle but know about it. I hate dirty players like that. I've never understood how that one tackle in a game means so much that they'll risk breaking someone's leg over it.
That Palacios challenge is the worst I've seen this season, like I say, and no one even mentioned it on MOTD. After the Eduardo tackle last season (which wasn't actually as reckless as this one!) you'd think the referees would have clamped down hard.
