To be honest, I don't care that it's scripted (and I believe it is, but only partially). Most comedy is. Time is money and even the wittiest of people cannot churn out satire on cue all the time.
I can't comment on Hislop's poetry I'm afraid.

What do you mean by "gas related spin"?
Europe as a continent does not consist of just one culture, it is far more diverse.
What you say about Russia being part of Eurasia is an interesting point though.
