Whats your views ???

Higher taxation and NO cut in public spending ?

Even higher taxation and increased public spending ?

Lower taxation, smaller better public sector ?

Low taxation small public sector and encourage the people to be self responsible ?

Me... I would good for the fourth one... if that doesn't happen I think by the time I am 45 I will leave the UK and take my tax payments to another country...

!sad!

First, they should slash the spending they do by employing some common sense within their own operations. Reports over the weekend showing it cost one dept. ?300 to change a toilet seat, changing a bulb seems to average out around the ?200 mark shows that lots a small simple savings can be made, then you start on the bigger areas, like the Trevor Phillips run dept that was on C4 news last night.

Then you get around to stuff like axing foreign aid, then you can explain with some reason why taxes need to go up, and some necessary spending needs to be cut.

I think foreign aid is a complete waste of money. The job of the UK government is to govern the UK. We are not an empire, and we have no responsibility for any other country. If private citizens want to give their own money to charity that is fine, but our government has no right to spend the money it takes from us in tax to spend on any other people.

I also find it hillarious that we can afford to build a prison in Nigeria, yet not in our own country.

Peter... Great Britain will always try to punch above its weight, it will ALWAYS put overseas aid as an important part of our role in the world...I am sure if the country voted on it we would reject this but we are never asked!

Canada in the esrly 90's slashed its overseas aid to reduce its problems... we would never do that...

I feel Gordon Brown has been the ultimate socialist.

Giving away money to everyone and anyone that wants it (in benefits, tax credits and so on) without any real attempt to generate businesses to pay for it.

The fraud on tax credit (his invention) has been astronomical. People can put pretty much what they like on a tax credit form and people have been prosecuted for saying they have 27 kids and had money paid out to them.

Just search under "Tax credit fraud" to see the massive numbers of people who have fiddle the system. This fraud is costing about 2 BILLION POUNDS a year.

Here are some examples

So this massive give away by Gordno Brown has virtually bankrupt this country and we may never recover.

(I know the banks have been part of the problem, and the government allowed the economy to over inflate).

But in the end, we cant continue giving money away to people in society who do nothing to "earn" it.

Vote labour - Bankrupt the country.

Here is a woman who claimed for FIFTEEN children and got it paid

Only one of them existed, and the other was the name of a girl who came into the shop where she worked.

What sort of government is this that can allow such rampant fraud to continue.

I think Gordon Browns actiosn border on the criminal.
