Computer printer help

Folks

I've installed a Z640 Lexmark printer on my pc but for some reason when I click print it switches to off line.

I eventually manage to download the drivers available from the Lexmark site, installed, deleted the old printers, reinstalled, deleted again and reinstalled after that failed to work but still no joy.

Has anyone got any ideas how to resolve it please?

All the print jobs have gone to the printer and it is the default printer, it's just off line according to the pop up box that comes up through control panel.

There is usually a click to switch to on line but none is available (or I can't find it) and the thing that is confusing me most is that the printer has a green tick by it when if something isn't working there is usually a red cross.

I am baffled but then I have been since I got the thing last Christmas - it's VISTA and any advice (apart from throw the pile of crap in the bin) would be appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

Try the Lexmark site again - they should have some FAQ's and maybe a users forum as well.

Cheers Floydoid

That was the first thing I did.

The FAQ's just suggested what I've already done.

Lexmark have now emailed me with a number to phone 0207 where ever that is.

!love!

I had a Lexmark 4 in 1 and had problems from day one with incompatability issues on the fax. ! took it back to Hove PC World where in effect the bastards said tough, take it up with Lexmark. Now then, the fact that these bastards sold it to me in the first place cut no fucking ice whatsoever. Our local Trading Standards Dept in Brighton were more than useless as they refused to get involved in something, to me, that was a case of not fit for purpose under the Trades Descriptions Act. I'd waited 12 weeks. So fucking what? Isn't a warrranty for 12 months?
I went to a very good puter builder in Portslade where I live and bought an Epson Stylus DX4000 3 in 1 and have not had the slightest problem at all. The print resolution is extremely good and, it has 4 cartridges, so, when one is empty you replace it, not the whole fucking lot like one has to do with others.
My advice is throw the fucking thing out of a top floor window and go and get an Epson Stylus.

Reggie, I can only say as I find.
My Epson Stylus has given me 2 years of trouble free hard printing in mono and colour and I have used 3 complete ink packs, so I wonder where your statement of being the worst printer ever to buy stems from. Perhaps like me with a Lexmark you had a crap one.
Retailers liable for 14 days? I say bollocks.
Someone with a bit of disposable income will fuck PC World one day and so they should. The bastards are too big and think they can do what they like. They are only usefull for buying periphials from.
