Victoria Beckham to join Americal Idol !!

In yet another attempt to make herself famous in a country where no one has heard of her, the egotistical Victoria Beckham has wangled herself a role as a guest judge on American Idol - following the resignation of Paula Abdul. Simon Fuller, the executive producer of the show, who is British and was responsible for giving us S Club 7 (wow!), is obviously someone who thinks highly of her.

Might be quite a tiring ordeal for Victoria, this will be only the second job she has had in a decade - the first was when the Spice's reformed for a tour a year or two ago, now this. People who have spent that many years unemployed usually find it knackering to get back into employment. Personally I think she will ruin the show. She knows very little about music - all she really did was dance and mime in the Spice Girls. America's top rated show is about to go down the plughole. What do other people think of her appointment as guest judge on the show?

Well as an anorexic-breast-augmented-little-spoilt-madam (her not me) I think she should go down pretty well ... think this is only going to be a one off so don't get your kegs in a twist though Max.

Simon Fuller is of course a close friend to the Beckhams in LA as is Tom Cruise ...

On a slighty different tangent: at what point do you think that the Beckhams will start trotting out their beloved little kids to the media in an attempt to try and stay in the public spotlight. My guess is after the next world cup we will all be getting up close and personal with the Baby Beckhams ...

Why do I get a feeling of deja vu? Oh yes....you've said all this before. Repetitive and boring.

I'll reiterate my question which you failed to answer before: what would you have her do? What would please Mr. Max?

As far as I'm aware she's had three kids, done a world tour, formed a charity (more than one?), started her own clothing line and moved home, uprooting her family twice in the last 8 years.

You've slagged off her dancing (which is bullshit because it was Gerry Halliwell that couldn't grasp the moves while Victoria had had lessons from a very young age), you slagged off her singing (fair enough on that one) and just like you did with Jordan, if she took acting lessons you'd take the piss over that as well.

My conclusion is that she's in the wrong when she does nothing and in the wrong when trying to learn something different.

Again: What would you have her do?

Anything that wasn't ego orientated and didn't involve a 'look at me, arent I great, you all want to see me don't you, the whole world is a worse place if I'm not prolific within it' type attitude. A bit more modesty, then we would all respect her a bit more, but to do that would probably mean her disappearing from the limelight - and she wouldn't be able to cope with that.

She could commit suicide ------ think of the headlines, but that's a bit harsh and a one off gig.
Personally I'd be happy if she just fucked off into nowhere land and continued to be a talentless nonentity there. Hopefully she could entice Jordan to join her and maybe make a nice lez film which I would grudgingly watch.

Ego orientated? Didn't George Orwell say that 'to be a writer you have to believe people are interested in what you have to say' (or words to that effect)?

Any singer/dancer/musician/writer/model/actor/pornstar/sportsman is saying 'look how good I am!' when they do what they do. Ego comes with the territory I'm afraid, it's just that some hide it better than others. Without the ego I doubt she'd be a millionaire right now, that's for sure.

I'm sure if Poppy Morgan was making herself a millionaire out of just being snapped coming out of restaurants/clubs and singing badly, you wouldn't take exception to it. Would you?

She's going to appear on Pop Idol: big wow! She's sold more music than Paula Abdul, Sharon Osbourne and Cheryl Cole.....maybe combined. And you don't have to be a good singer to judge others' ability (I doubt Simon Cowell sings like Pavarotti). Why is Victroria Beckham more ego-orientated than any of the others?

Jesus H Christ!! Having her and Dannii Minogue judging music is taking the piss, two talentless flash in the pan has beens desperate to hang onto that fifteenth minute of fame. The only positive thing I can say about Posh is that at least she didn`t sell herself and her family out to Xenu and become the the UK face of scientology like placentafag Tom Cruise wanted

Sam, in your second paragraph you list numerous professions, and all the people who do those things are famous for those things therefore in those situations being well known and expecting to be noticed and looked at is ok because you have achieved something. Your fame is as big as the name you have got from the profession you are in. Thom Yorke from Radiohead is a very well known and respected singer/songwriter/musician and therefore will be noticed, will be written about and photographed and it is reasonable for him to be expected to be as his fame is as big as the thing he has achieved.

Victoria Beckham's fame is dozens of times bigger than anything she achieved. She was the least famous Spice Girl, the only one of them never to achieve a solo No.1, and she was regularly ridiculed for her lack of talent, yet she is many many times more famous than any of the other four. That makes no sense, but it is the reality. Therefore her level of fame is unjustified, yet she still does everything to try and make herself as well known as Madonna whilst having no career, whilst basically just being 'famous for being famous', and if that isnt a massive ego I don't know what is.

Riiiiiight..... So your issue is with her 'fame' being bigger than her 'achievements'. Errrrr..... So because she hasn't had as many number ones as Geri she should avoid being photographed, avoid giving interviews, avoid writing books, avoid starting charities, avoid starting clothing lines.......etc, etc. I get you now! There's a sort of 'fameometer' that measures your past achievements and if your fame goes over your achievement level there's like an imbalance in the natural order and alarms go off and stuff....brilliant!

Trouble is, talent and achievements are kinda subjective.

You see: Say Geri has had a number one and Victoria hasn't. Well, you could say that Geri has achieved more than Victoria ? right? And since the public preferred Geri's song compared to Victoria's then we could conclude that Geri has more musical talent than Victoria too. All good so far, eh?

Now, back to the achievement. The achievement of Geri seems factual. She's had a number one and Victoria hasn't. But wait..... Since Geri has more talent than Victoria then that number one might be not as much of an achievement as Victoria's number two. Maybe Victoria achieved more, considering her talent level, compared to Geri. Maybe Geri should have had more number ones and under-achieved; maybe Victoria over-achieved. So, who achieved the most when taking into account talent levels?; the over-achiever or the under-achiever? Is over-achieving more admirable than under-achieving, or achieving as much as you talent allows? Isn't an over-achiever a harder worker? If you had a child would you want it to over-achieve in life or under-achieve? If I climbed to the summit of Everest and a disabled man climbed the summit of Mont Blanc who's achieved the most? Me because I climbed a bigger mountain or he due to having worked harder?

All subjective my dear Max.

Victoria has done something with her life and used what little 'supposed' talent she has. I think that's admirable. People like you can't see that and just like to emphasise the negatives. Your 'picking spots' because you see someone who's made it big with not much more talent than you have and you don't like it. Rather than be glad for them it makes you feel better to undermine what they've done and snigger at their aspirations. I wouldn't mind if she'd got caught planting land-mines around school playgrounds in Africa, but she hasn't.

I'd put money on her being a lot more respectful, kind, considerate and loving than you, Maxy-boy. What do you say to that?
