I am sure they haven't broken up for good. This about the fifth time the band have apparently split-up, and all that has happened is that Noel and Liam can't stand each other (again) and need time apart. They will get back together within the next year I am sure. Do you remember when Noel left the band in the late-1990's, one of several times, and the band toured with another guitarist? Noel said then that things had got so bad between him and Liam that he would never play live with the band again - of course that was never permanent even though it was said at the time it would be. They will be back.

I was at what is now their last ever gig! Until they reunite for cash a few years down the line of course.

I think Noel was talented and hope this change allows him to recapture some of the early promise.

JR, I think being full of your own self belief is a given in terms of success. 'We're the band you always wanted' is a much better self fulfilling prophecy than 'We're pretty average'.

They were right for the time and they could deliver on the talk with some killer tunes but it couldn't last. It's not the last we'll see of them though.
