Wolfgang's Vault - Awesome

As I write this, I am listening to a free stream of Bob Dylan & The Band at the Los Angeles Forum on 14th February 1974 (Late Show Set 1). Yes, it's all here at Wolfgang's Vault (sign up at www.wolfgangsvault.com) - the most jaw-dropping collection of live rock music one could possibly imagine.

Over recent weeks I have listened to Jess Roden, Elvis Costello, Dave Edmunds, Nick Lowe, and it just goes on and on and on.

For anyone who remembers the counterculture era - and that includes a lot of us here - you will find this to be just the injection you need.

Maybe you all know about this already - but for the odd one who doesn't, you are in for a rare treat.

Am going back to Ballad of A Thin Man now...........enjoy!

You're welcome. Now, can I turn you on to Nederbeat (Dutch bands of the 60s)?

Go to youtube and key in "outsiders" and "wally tax", who founded this seminal Amsterdam R&B band at the age of 12. Look particularly for "lying all the time" and "touch" - they apparently supported the Stones once and blew them off stage.

You've got Spirit, Tom Petty, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Frank Zappa, Little Feat, Steve Miller - and if you want other than Americans, there's Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, Jeff Beck, Bob Marley......all for free.

Early T Rex and John's Children by all means. But the vault is what it is, so unless they played at a Bill Graham-presented event, you can't expect what didn't happen.

For me, this is like the preservation of old films - an essential tribute to real art. However, you don't see Hollywood putting all its old films on the net for free - they are still trying to screw more money out of them on DVD.

There is Led Zeppelin there. I just chose some of my favourites. I once had to leave a Led Zep concert at Liverpool Stadium because my ears were hurting so much - suppose I've never forgiven 'em.
