Am considering moving to Spain or Italy for a year, what are the requirements to work and live there (working as a Bartender)?

Thanks:-)

Get on the plane, land, find somewhere to live and a job - that's it.

If I was you I would try Australia, get a one year working visa, about ?100 and you will have the time of your life.... no language problems, etc. and the exchange rate is still very good, far better than Europe.

If it is Spain then I would wait until after the winter !

!cool!

Having a big dick and willing to put it about would help. Though you would have to be sure the bar owner aint a bender.

We commute between France, Hungary and here. When we are abroad we don't read newspapers or watch the telly, so on our return to Blighty we are normally met by a barrage of depressing woes ranging from predatory nursery school paedos to hoodies torturing the disabled, you know normal life in Britain...........

To Jaguar whatever you do, GO for it, don't remain in this depressing dump, don't give it another moments thought. If necessary you're only 90 minutes away on a plane.

Just don't look for "Britain" in Spain or Italy. Personally, I'd go for Italy, wonderful food, lovely people and beaches and no fucking drunken Brits with Sombreros and donkeys under their arms!

Thanks for your responses:-)

Is a working Visa required to obtain work and would it make a difference (wage wise) since I work in the hospitality industry (bartender)?

BTW...live in the USA.

You didn't mention the fact that you were an American. Well unlike your usually morbidly obese immigration officials, who treat all foreigners either as general scum who are robbing God fearing Americans of their jobs or as crazed Islamic terrorists, I think you'll find the EU alot more friendly and welcoming to both work and live in.

You will almost certainly need a work permit and you will not get the benefit of EU healthcare and so on. But I can't imagine you'll have too much trouble getting in. A knowledge of Spanish or Italian would be useful especially in Italy !happy!
