Except in the actual story it was a boy, but girls are more audience friendly

I recall watching this film, sometime in the mid '70s. Normally horror films don't have much effect on me, but this film left me shit scared.

What I never understood was that the girl who I took with me that night found the film so funny she laughed most of the way through it.

I have never wanted to watch it again, even on video in the comfort of my own home.

I saw this film when it first came out and there were Red Cross first aid people in the cinema because apparently some people fainted during the more graphic bits.
I remember going to a burger van after it finished and just as I was about to order an old dear came out of the cinema and threw up. I didn't bother ordering after that.
