What a great film. Saw it for the first time last night. How did I miss it in the first place. How many more like this have I missed?

First time last night? That's surprising.. though a friend last weekend said she'd never seen 'A Christmas Carol' before (she's 30s)

It's an amazing film - so much going on with so many levels.

It's an adaptation of Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' which previously was filmed as 'The African Queen'.

Try to catch the documentary too as it goes into the set action including Martin Sheen's heart attack!

How did you miss it??? Its been out since 1979!!!!

Still you've seen it and the brilliant thing about that movie is that its timeless. The quality of it looks like it could have been made recently but still within its time period.

Coppola put himself on the map with that and The Godfather trilogy as far as Im concerned. A might, mighty man with very meaty films.

Did you watch the cinema version or the redux (extra long version)?

Here's one you may like...can't remember the name but its about the Mafia and there's a horses head and the leading actor was called Mando I think ...about 1972!

It was and still is a very good film.

Just like Easy Rider did in the late 1960's Apocalypse Now managed to capture just how the people were feeling at that time in American history.

Where did you see it and what ending did it have? I have seen two different endings but I understand that 4 or 5 final sequences were filmed.

The long version is I belive the original version but it was cut down due to people complaining( I think)

I thought Easy Rider was a big disappointment but the music was truly excellent.

yeah the Redux is the best version, extra 47 minutes or so, with the French Plantation scene added in

The Deer Hunter is better.
