I watched this on TV last week, from the Royal Albert Hall, and I have watched it a few times since on YouTube. A very touching performance, their voices blend really nicely and it goes further to confirm that Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol is one of the best songwriters and performers around. Cheryl also looks incredibly beautiful here. Have a watch, and post your comments below:

Hi Max,
Hope you enjoyed your holiday!

I agree with you. Great song. Cheryl Cole looks gorgeous and I would never have believed that she could sing so well live.

Still I can't get Martha Wainwright's voice out of my head. Martha did the vocals on the version on the Snow Patrol CD.

Here's a live performance, but not with full orchestra as in the Albert Hall.

An odd pairing at an odd occasion eh?

But seeing as both have newly released albums to promote, perhaps not surprising either. After a decade of audiences being divided by demographics, this sort of cross-pollination - of which you can expect more - could be yet another strategy to prop up an industry that's nearly in need of charity itself.

Please give generously, remember.
