After all the talk of Chinese intolerance etc. I decided to walk around my place and see how much stuff was manufactured there.

I discovered that virtually everything I own, from Sofas to toasters, from IPod's, PC's, mobile phone, LCD TV, lighting, HI fi,DVD players, fridge, electric sockets and plugs, cables, ext hard discs, batteries,IPhone and so on was either made or assembled in China.

I think that virtually every Xmas present I bought was probably made in China.

I think after seeing the video below I am going to try avoiding buying Chinese products:

Why?
I have a Chines made electronic vernier caliper which I paid ?25 for a few years ago. I regularly check its calibration and to date it is accurate.
It pisses all over Jap Mututoyo instruments which cost ?90 something for the same.
The Chinks do have a regard to quality and as long as they give me the choice of reasonable cost and reasonable quality I shall continue to buy their products.

You should think how much Africa means to you while you are at it. Yopu'd be surprised how much the mobile phones and computer giants rely on the continent.

I don't disagree, but I gave up mics years ago as electronic vernier calipers are the dogs danglies, and all of the Chinese instruments I have are a better quality than the Jap stuff.
