I was there last month and to be honest I wasn?t that impressed with the place. I was with my girlfriend so I didn?t get a chance to frequent any of the more adult entertainments. The Tivoli Gardens is good and of course everybody goes to see the little mermaid.
We found the food at Ristorante Vesuvio to be really excellent and went there twice. This place was not cheap but the place was packed both nights always a sign of a good eaterie.

To be honest I couldn?t fault the hotel and the breakfast spread was very good. An evening meal one night wasn?t so great but it did the job. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the train station.
We had a buffet lunch one day which was quite reasonable, and you got to help yourself to draught beer as well. I only had 2 glasses but maybe if you tried to go overboard they might pull you. I can?t remember the name of the place but there was a big ferris wheel just across the road so it should be easy enough to find.
There were plenty of McDonald?s and the like but I was never in any but I suspect they will still be a cheap option for food.

Lucky you. I lived there for a couple of years in the eighties. I have fond memories of clubs in Christiania and getting legless on Carlsberg Elephant beer. It was a very, very special place. I used to hang out at a jazz club, Montmartre, where Sonny Rollins, Ben Webster and Dexter Gordon played.

As for places to stay its too long ago really. I did get put up a couple of years ago for work in Radhuspladsen (Town Hall Square) at what is now the Scandic. Pretty good but not cheap as I recall.

I used to eat in the falafel and houmus places in Istegade for a cheap snack. There was some interesting places setup by government funding. Huset in Magstraede was one which was a mix of bars, restaurant and music spaces in the same building. Pretty good as I recall.

If you have any time spare, Tivoli as Dick mentioned is well worth a visit but when I was there it didnt open until May 1st. Dont know if that has changed. There was an interesting art gallery up the coast, north of Copenhagen called Louisiana which had a great location.

The Little Mermaid should perhaps be renamed, the Very Little Mermaid.

The breakfast was included but that was all. As I said it was a really big spread so you could fill your boots if you wanted to.
