This is a very couragous thing for the French Govenment to do, especially as France will be a majority muslim country within 40 years. The Government there doesn't like the fact that women go round dressed as Darth Vadar and want it stopped. They will be fined the equivilant of ?700 if they do. Do you think it might be implemented as a government policy in the UK? And should it be?

Seeing someone's face as you communicate with them has been a standard part of human interaction since the year dot. Wearing a mask and only showing your eyes goes against all of that. Imagine having a work colleague who you sit next to 8 hours a day, for several years, and then on the day you leave the job, say 3 years in, you still have no idea what she looks like. Imagine wedding photos of masked people, a totally pointless picture, or passport photos where there is just the mask with two eyes visible. completely pointless and ridiculous. And for school children to be taught by people they can't see - that is the worst of all. There are many reasons why we should get rid of the Burkha in the West. It is also a symbol of female oppression by men, where the man instructs her not to be visible in public although he is allowed to be seen by anyone. Interesting how the female equality lobby never even mention one word about this. The Burkha, and what it is and what it stands for, is unacceptable in a western society.

When you get hounded out of your shop for refusing to let in people wearing disguises?

Its also a symbol of women being inferior, second class, sub-servant people, which no society should tolerate.

A local jeweller who insists people remove crash helmets, sunglasses, scarves, any sort of obscurement of the face before being buzzed into the shop so they can be identified by the security cameras. (As many do)

Everyone else is fine with this, but by refusing entry to those who refused to remove their disguise, he was, obviously, branded a racist.

He packed in and moved elsewhere.

I remember it from the local paper, probably 18-24 months ago. I actually read it in the newspaper itself, rather than online, so I don't know if its online (Sheffield Star if you want to search) It was the jewellers near my studio, thats why I remember it.
