Where is Bob Geldof?

The problems in Africa are ongoing and don't just arise now and then, so I've always wondered why Sir Robert only pops up every few years. What does he do the rest of the time? It seems that he feels this issue only needs tending to now and again, rather than all the time. I find that strange...

He's done his bit. A very huge bit at that. So you leave him be.
Bobs the man. besides no one said he has to work on Africa full time and nor would I expect bands like U2 to either.
You may think it cynical that they come across as uber cool for showing concern but to me, them showing concern and even doing something about it means much more than those pointing and jeering who do nothing but chastise and ridicule those who do.

Who is pointing and jeering and doing nothing but chastising and ridiculing those who do show concern? If you mean me, my only complaint was about U2 doing the tax exile thing, when they request that western Government's write-off Third World debt and give more in aid - and bearing in mind the only way Governments can afford to do that is if they have money coming in in tax, then what U2 did was ridiculous. They clearly want others to pay tax to cover these things yet will avoid paying it themselves. A case of "do as I say dont do as I do". That is the only criticism I have ever made in the direction of anyone involved in the Africa issue - and I think they, U2, are deserving of criticism.

Maybe it takes a while for money and it's effects to show, thus highlighting where improvements can be made.
Maybe it's tactical in that if he was pleading for money every other day people would become immune to the appeals and actually end up giving less overall.
What do you think, Max?

What do I think? Well, I think someone who is known for one thing is usually continually prolific as a person who does that. I'm not being critical of Geldof, he has done wonderful work over the last 26 years for Africa, he may have earned a few quid through TV later on but he was pretty broke during the late-1980's as I remember. He refused to take money from the pot to fly to Africa, he always paid for the flights himself, and he had no real personal income. He is a great guy. I was just a bit puzzled as to why he isnt heard of for a couple of years at a time when, like I say, someone known for a particular thing is usually continually famous and in the public eye for that thing.

I think U2 are the least of our problems if they do the country out of tax. there are far more people just as rich getting out of paying it and they dont get column inches for it.
But fair point Max.
maybe Bobs stil at the drawing board making plans. Has the guy got a website and blog? Seems most have these days
If he hasnt then he should so peoppe can see where all that hard cash has gone and if it is also working.
