Have Brown/Cameron got the bollocks?

Looks like Obama is taking on the banks, particularly those who take our deposits, gamble them and then when it goes tits up, come back to us, the taxpayer for a handout.

George Osborne has said that he will look "very closely" at the plans.
Lets see if either Brown or Cameron have got the bollocks.

Heard an interview with Lord Myners, the Financial Services Secretary in Brown's government trying to make out Obama was following Brown's lead.

Myners was the guy who was head down in the lobster soup, when Fred Goodwin trousered the payment for incompetence he got out of RBS.

So it doesnt look too good for Labour on this.

I think you could be right, Rodders.

And neither of them have the guts to stop takeovers like the recent one of Cadbury's by American company, Kraft.

The profits disappear out of the country. The investment bankers, lawyers and Board make a packet, while the people in the factories at Cadbury get pissed on.

Where's Arthur Scargill when you need him. At least he would have put up a fight, if nothing else.

AS Brown will probably have lined up a nice cushy job on the board of a bank for when he gets booted out, the chances of him doing anything negative towards the banking sector are pretty much nil.

Given Thatcher was determined to smash the miners union "the enemy within" as she referred to the unions then it would have been difficult to stop the power of government, short of a revolution.

What Scargill got wrong in the Miners Strike was his tactics in terms of timing and the fact that he totally underestimated the speed at which Thatcher would close coal mines.

The defeat of the miners was in some ways the death knell of trade unionism in this country and resulted in the vast majority of workers in this country being generally treated by employers, no better than shit on their shoes. New Britain - the land of poundshops and the minimum wage.
