'well looks who's come crawling back'

Well needs must when the Devil vomits in your kettle.

Don't even know if the mighty 'J' or Sammy frequent these dark parts any more, but help is needed so here goes....

It's official after 5 days of googling and trying to make any fucking sense of the live support forums,I can proudly announce that I am the only person in the entire world who currently can't sign into my MSN because of 'error code: 8e5e0155' Infact it seems most of the world have never even heard of it. Very few of the fuckers at Microsoft seem to have.

OK sit-rep....(who else cringes when they hear that term)

Using Messenger 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726 latest version I believe. Well it should be,it's been installed three times this week) Running Bisto home Basic (Yeah I know but remember what I said about vomit and kettles) Can sign in fine with my works E mail...but not my personal one. And can also sign in on other computers. Running latest Firefox, which I may have reset the history on the day I could last sign in.

Bit garbled I know. Think every thing is there, mind. Just popping out for a sherry and a game of bridge. Will be back in a couple of hours. Not that it's important, just hate to think of any one thinking I was being rude if I was a while saying thanks for any help I may recieve.

Couple more things....should any one speak to Ace please let him know that me getting back to him has been sort of governed by this. And should Muswell stumble over this......Muzzy baby my life is like a desert with out you !tears!

Thank you in advance

BB

Bad news....I have no idea of your problem. A quick google (as you have done so) turns up something to do with a corrupt 'live contacts folder'.....which you should delete, reinstall msn and all is well. This, to me, makes sense as creating a new account solves this issue (so you'll have a different contact list folder). Unfortunately I don't know where this folder is because I don't use msn nor know your OS. If you can find it via windows' search then give it a go.

A bit drastic but reinstalling the OS should sort it. I don't think it's a browser issue.

Jacques might have a better idea. He's been busy of late but if he doesn't see this over the next 48 hours I'll mail him for you.

Hope you're ok, BB; you've been sorely missed. !thumbsup!

Good morning Sammy Wise

Great to see you,and bloody grand of you to take the time.

Any way,it's just coming upto One AM and I have work at 5,so I will be forced to keep this brief.

I just had to bite the bullet in the end,i'm afraid. Took the drastic option and formated. I found my self clutching at straws. In the end,it actually seemed like the best and easiest thing to do. Started to wonder what other damage I may have done. God I am such a chimp! (sorry nearly used two exclamation marks there. My commas are all over the shop, mind)

It's taken about seven hours but the last updates are downloading. MSN is working at the minute...so fingers crossed. Was even able to read a certain Email from a certain person who's health I have often wondered about. I intend to follow the link but not untill the weekend at the earliest.

You can still Email Jaques for me but just to give him my heart felt best wishes. Which I also pass onto you and any other old friends who happen to read this. So thank you Sam.

Keep the faith

BB

Sam Slater may be onto something. I'd recommend that you do a thorough uninstall of MSN, or windows live messenger as it is known these days, with Revo Uninstaller, which will remove every last trace of it. Then download the Windows Live installer, which will install messenger, plus any of the other Live services you want. (Live Mail is a pretty good one to add).

Good luck.
