I remeber feeling the same as you until I read somethings on this and thought to myself something was not right.

Even some of the americans close to this incident agree that him incarceration was not satisfactory being a token "symbol of capture" to satisfy those who want to see justice but done at the expense of some one framed for it.

If this guy was really gulty then the british government would be raising all kinds of hell but the truth is they left it to Scotland because it happened there and the other reason is they can use this as an excuse not to get involved because M!5 know he is innocent ...But thats pure hypothesis on my part so dont quote me on that.
