What a joy to watch! On Men & motors there is a programme on football.
Its called The Big Match, revisited.
Brian Moore is the frontman (the ITV version of Match of the day), showing matches from the 70s.

Matches that is played in the snow (with a orange ball).
Matches that has 22 players on the pitch without one single foreign name, all British.
Matches where bodily contact was allowed without being booked or sent off.

Unlike todays so called footballers, where they only have to have a finger touch them, they fall over.

Great stuff.

Sounds exciting. I bet the novelty will soon wear off for many, though. The pace of the game is a lot faster with players combining both athleticism and skill these days.

This is incorrect. England won the World Cup in 1966. And in comparison, as a result of the influx of foreign players in the period after the late 80's, which gave the English players, the best in the world to train with, the English team's list of tournament victories in the last 20+ years is what exactly.....?

It's obviously a question of balance. Currently the balance between English players and foreign players in the Premier League is wrong.
