Lily Allen retires..

Pop ewok Lily Allen has decided to retire from music and go into fashion designing and retailing. I saw her on TV this morning and she is going to open a shop with her sister and design all the clobber that she sells. Her last music activity will be a gig at Brixton Academy in London on (I think) 7th March.
How will the nation cope with its latest mockney-cockney disappearing from the public eye? That fake cockney accent on the songs, the large white trainers and the strange floral dresses; that 'Kings Road pout' she does when she speaks; the songs about cocaine, blow-jobs and council estate urban life (even though she attended some of Britains most expensive private schools and has unlikely ever been near a council estate).
Ah Lily, how will we cope without you...

The question is how will Lily Allen cope without us, the answer is not well. Her and the likes of Peaches Geldof need publicity like an addict needs crack. She isn't going anywhere mark my words.

I would imagine the reasons she is losing interest in music is because she is now wealthy from having had sucess in that area and therefore feels less of a need to do it anymore. This is the same as what happens when bands become big, the gaps between albums become even greater and members start leaving.
However, after Lily has forked out for a shop in Mayfair, spent a bundle on getting it refitted, a fortune on all the clothes she will sell, and so on - if the thing fails she will be back to making music again sooner than she thinks in order to recoup her huge loses.
I do not wish this on her though, I hope it all works out, but there is a good chance it WON'T work. She is basically going to try and do what Stella McCartney did, except Stella McCartney trained in how to do it at college and she also has a dad who is worth nearly ?1 billion to help out when things go tits up. Lily has not.

Leave poor Lilly alone. She found an opening and went for it. Chav culture is in. Better her than some real chav who had no talent. Love her or hate her she has made money out of it and that means to those who spend money on her and watch her that shes well gifted innit
Power to the people and all that malarkey!!!

I hope her new venture works out for her, as I said in my last comment. I would prefer it if people stuck at music a bit longer than they do - as I mentioned people seem to take their foot off the gas a bit, or lose interest almost completely, when they have a few quid in the bank. U2 are one of the only bands/artists I can think of who stuck at it and didn't lose interest once they became rich. They have lasted more than 30 years (no solo albums, no solo tours, etc). Lily may have kept recording well into her 30's had she been in it for the music alone, and didn't change her attitude towards her music career once a few more zero's started appearing on her bank statements.

She can probably make more money being the next Z Lister in Hello, OK, NOTW etc. ... so why bother actually having to work for a living (if you can class miming a few tunes as work).!whistle!

Plastic Londoners / Mockney Cockneys adapt themselves that way because its the accent that most Americans & Europeans associate with England apart from the upper class accent.
